Dear Parents and Students:
We are delighted to announce the fall opening of The Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts. The staff is back and preparing for the new and returning resident and daytime students. With one of the largest high school academic programs ever and an ambitious training and performance program in the offing, the energy is already buzzing in the building.
Victoria Mazzarelli, Artistic Director and Tim Melady, Ballet Master will be calling parents during this upcoming week with individual reviews. In addition, you will receive a notice from Nutmeg’s housing department regarding student room assignments. We are pleased to announce that gentlemen of high school age will reside in the North Dorm while woman will reside in the South Dorm. All are within the Nutmeg Building Complex and will have live-in housing staff.
The faculty recommends a daily class prior to your arrival in addition to necessary stretching and/or warm-up sessions. If you have not yet ordered your dress code gear, you may call or e-mail the dance shop or do your ordering online www.nutmegconservatory.org/danceshop . To assure that your order will be ready we recommend you contact our Shop Manager Holly Watson at 860-482-4413 ext 316. We want to make sure each dancer is prepared for the first full day of training.
On the first day of Academic Classes, Mrs. Mattiello will review each student’s curriculum and our IT specialists will be on hand to make any computer adjustments and to assist each student with online requirements for their academic programs.
The orientation session will be on Sunday September 9th at 3:00. This meeting will include all students and ALL PARENTS of resident and daytime trainees. Following the orientation there will be a get-to-know-you pizza party (daytime students invited to stay as well). In the evening housing meetings including a review of the student code of ethics and student handbook will be reviewed. Copies of these materials will also be made available online and in hard copy at the orientation.
If you have any housing or travel questions please feel free to contact Karen Tuck, Housing Director using the Nutmeg Student phone contact line which is 860-307-3111.
